Millet has been a staple food for humans for over 10,000 years, particularly in India and parts of Africa, where it is thought to have originated. Historians believe that at one time it was the main cereal consumed throughout Asia. Even today, millet is the staple food of a third of the world’s population.
Millet is considered an ancient grain: it has undergone only minimal modification through varietal selection over the millennia, and is therefore largely identical to that consumed by our distant ancestors.
The millet selected by Farinart comes from qualified sources, carefully cultivated to guarantee exceptional purity and optimal nutritional benefits.

Millet has a sweet, buttery flavor similar to that of corn, and when roasted brings out its delicate flavor. Its slight bitterness and herbaceous flavor mean that it is often mixed with other cereals to make breads, flatbreads, waffles, pancakes, scones and muffins. In flour form, millet can replace 25-50% of wheat flour in these applications.
Millet is a cereal rich in complex carbohydrates and fiber. It contains B-complex vitamins and minerals such as magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, iron and zinc. It also contains lutein, associated with eye health.
Millet is gluten-free and low in FODMAPs (Fermentable by colonic bacteria Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides and Polyols).
