• About

The lentil is the oldest known edible legume. Canada is one of the largest producers and exporters in the world, with green and red lentils leading as the top two varieties grown.

  • Features

Farinart selects lentils only from the most qualified sources, harvested with care to guarantee exceptional purity and optimal nutritional benefits. We source principally here in Quebec and from Western Canada.

Our lentils are offered in green and red varieties, either whole or milled as flour. Our lentils are available as conventional or organic.

  • Properties

Lentils can be used in a wide variety of breads, cakes, muffins, cookies, and crackers. Lentil flour can be used alone or in combination with other types of flour to provide a distinct hazelnut taste, and is often featured in gluten-free recipes as a fiber-boosting ingredient. Lentils can be added to bakery products in flour or paste form.

Lentils contain some of the highest protein amounts of the legume family, with protein consisting of 25 to 30% of their weight. They are also rich in complex carbohydrates, including soluble and insoluble fiber. Additionally, they provide multiple B-group vitamins (B1, B5 and folic acid), as well as minerals like iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, copper, manganese and zinc.
